Mystery Day 2026
Mystery Day is a Club Sew Along where you follow clues to create a finished project. $15 class fee includes a catered lunch.
We will start PROMPTLY at 8:30 am
Instructors: Jean Berger will lead the day with team members Jo Ann Bray, Barb Johnson, & Lynn Mysel
We're going to create a Mystery Table Runner or Table Topper! You can decide which size will work best in your home or create a piece that can be sold in the Boutique or donated as a ZZ item. You will need to bring all the usual quilting supplies including:
Fabric and batting as indicated below. Pre-cut Charm Packs can work for the project, or you can cut your own 5" squares from fabrics you already have in your stash! Preparing the fabric by ironing and cutting the fabrics and batting before our Mystery Journey will help you finish a fun quilt top or perhaps even the entire project by the end of the day!
Sewing machine that has been cleaned and outfitted with a good needle, quarter inch seam guide, etc.
Coordinating thread
Scissors, pins, seam ripper, and other standard tools.
You may wish to bring your own rulers and rotary cutter, but please DO NOT bring you own personal irons.
Fabric Requirements:
Table Runner (TR) will be approx. 20" x 36" & Table Topper (TT) will be approx. 36" x 36".
Main Fabric: Dark/medium tone 5" charm squares that can be cut from a single piece of fabric; coordinating fabrics; or totally scrappy palette. For TR: (16) 5" squares. For TT: (32) 5" squares
Background Fabric: Light or contrasting 5" charm squares that can be cut from a single piece of fabric; coordinating fabrics; or totally scrappy palette. For TR: (16) 5" squares. For TT: (32) 5" squares.
Border: For TR & TT: 1/3 to 1/2 yard coordinating fabric. This could be cut into four 2 1/2" width of fabric strips, or you may wish to wait to cut this until the center is complete so that your table runner is size you prefer.
Binding: For TR: 1/4 yard coordinating fabric. This can be cut into three 2 1/2" width of fabric strips. For TT: 1/3 yard coordinating fabric. This can be cut into four 2 1/2" width of fabric strips.
Backing: For TR: Coordinating fabric that is at least 24" x 40". For TT: Coordinating fabric that is at least 40" x 40"
Batting: For TR: Minimum of 24" x 40". For TT: Minimum of 40" x 40".
