Fabric description & cutting directions.:
Fabrics: I chose to go from light to dark in coordinating my fabric choice & chose to use one main color but have fun with it. I've done one in grey to black and one in shades of browns. This one I will do in blues.
1/6 yard for 5" square (light)
1/3 yard (shade darker)
1/2 yard (another shade darker)
3/4 yard (a little darker)
1 yard (darkest)
1 1/2 yard of solid for 1" strips
2/3 yard for 3/4 border (optional)
BATTING & BACKING FABRIC:1
Cutting Instructions: This will make 4 25" blocks. If you make placemats, table topper or table runner, you will likely only need 1 block. Label your fabrics.
4 - 5" squares (light) A
4 - 2 1/2" strips of (shade darker) B
6 - 2 1/2 strips of (another shade darker)C
9 - 2 1/2" strips of (a little darker) D
12 - 2 1/2" strips of (darkest) E
If you use 3 to 4" border (F)
** If you use Accuquilt cutter, you will need extra fabric.
